Operation Encompass
All Leicester Schools are part of a safeguarding initiative, which aims to improve outcomes for children and families affected by domestic violence and abuse. Operation Encompass is a police and education early information safeguarding partnership enabling us to offer immediate support to children and young people experiencing domestic abuse. Operation Encompass ensures that there is a simple telephone call or notification to our Designated Safeguarding Lead, prior to the start of the next school day after an incident of police attended domestic abuse where there are children related to either of the adult parties involved.
This Information Sharing Platform means that the police will share with us incidents that they have attended where they feel there has been an impact upon a child’s physical, emotional or mental well-being. This information is shared so that Heatherbrook Primary Academy can better understand children’s living experience and can support, nurture and care for them more effectively. The information will remain confidential and only shared on a strictly need- to-know basis, for example with the class teacher. It will not be shared with any pupils.
More information about Operation Encompass including their statement can be found on their website www.operationencompass.org

We look to offer the best support possible for our pupils and believe that this scheme is beneficial and supportive for all those involved.
